About Me
My goal as a mental health provider is to empower you to be your better self.

Hello! I’m Mark
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
I am Mark Wm Smith, MA, LCPC, a dedicated and empathetic therapist specializing in ADHD and trauma treatment. With over a decade of experience, I am dedicated to helping individuals with ADHD and trauma-related challenges find healing, resilience, and personal growth.
Life is hard. It can come at us with difficulties or misfortune like a freight train. It can creep up on us with confusion and fear like a psychological ninja. We are not ready. Wounds from our past or neurodivergent limitations like ADHD impair our understanding and personal fortitude. The capacity to solve life’s problems slips away, and we find ourself floundering, stumbling, afraid and hopeless.
A deep understanding of the unique struggles faced by individuals with ADHD helps me employ evidence-based approaches tailored specifically to your needs. Through a warm and supportive therapeutic environment, I assist clients in exploring the impact of ADHD on their lives and developing effective coping strategies.
I also have extensive experience working with trauma survivors. Utilizing trauma-informed techniques like cognitive restructuring and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), I guide clients through the process of healing from past traumatic experiences. I firmly believe in empowering individuals to reclaim their lives and discover their inner strength.
My Approach & Values
I am practical in my approach to mental healthcare and do my utmost to use clinical counseling and therapeutic interventions with the focus on helping my clients achieve their goals and reach their full potential. You can expect a collaborative and personalized treatment plan that integrates the physiological, emotional and psychological factors of your unique circumstance.
My work over the past thirteen years in mental health has been varied, providing a broad spectrum of experiences with mental and emotional disorders. Exposure to cases involving depression, anxiety, compulsive behaviors, obsessive thinking, complex grief, traumatic memories and neurodivergent characteristics have grown me into a more compassionate and informed therapeutic counselor. This typically allows us to identify the fundamental causes of your personal distress, leading to greater efficacy in treatment.
My attitude is always adjusted to your needs as a client. I do my best to be appropriately direct, while at the same time keeping your mental and emotional disposition at the forefront. We will work together to identify and validate your individual needs and create a strategy that meets them. My goal is to provide you with the tools and support needed to navigate the complexities of ADHD and trauma, fostering lasting healing and positive transformation.
ADHD and trauma-focused interventions.
I will assist you in developing specific strategies for managing ADHD symptoms such as difficulty with focus, organization, memory, impulsivity, executive functioning skills, and emotional regulation. Additionally, I will explore any underlying stressors or unresolved trauma-related issues that may be contributing to your challenges with ADHD. Together, we will identify ways to reduce distress while building skills in self-awareness, problem solving, assertiveness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and relaxation.
Throughout the therapy process we will regularly assess progress towards goals as well as any obstacles impeding progress. As appropriate for each individual client’s needs, family involvement may be integrated into treatment if desired by the client or deemed necessary by me or other professionals involved in their care.
Ultimately, my goal is not only to help you manage ADHD symptoms but also to foster greater resilience so that you can thrive in life despite significant challenges. Together we will embark on a journey towards a more fulfilling life where you can discover greater self-awareness and trust in yourself.
